FIRST IN-HOUSE TOURBILLON

A major milestone for BA111OD, the Chapter 4 Skeleton Tourbillon T.V.D. introduces the brand’s first in-house calibre, developed in La Chaux-de-Fonds with renowned watchmaker Olivier Mory.

Its openworked architecture reveals the mechanics of the movement, from the tourbillon at 7 o’clock to the barrel that delivers an impressive 120-hour power reserve.

Crafted in 904L stainless steel with a gunmetal anthracite DLC treatment, this 43 mm tourbillon combines technical depth with a sharper, more contemporary design language.

It challenges traditional luxury codes with a clear idea: making a Swiss Made tourbillon with real mechanical substance more accessible, without compromising on precision, construction or character.

REFINED DEPTH

“The intention was to refine the watch and strengthen its visual language without losing its technical intensity. Through the dial and rehaut, I worked with bevels, shifting levels and a nuanced interplay of finishes to create a stronger sense of depth and relief. By lightening the centre of the composition, we were able to give more presence to the engraved barrel cover and the ‘Veblen Dilemma’ inscription, while preserving the hypnotic quality that defines the piece.”

Why “The Veblen Dilemma”?

According to economist Thorstein Veblen, luxury tends to become more desirable the more expensive it is. Which leaves a watch like this in an awkwardly interesting position: a Swiss Made tourbillon with real mechanical substance, distinctive design, and a price that challenges convention. Too serious to be overlooked, too accessible to behave like traditional luxury. That is the Veblen Dilemma.
